Kier Infrastructure takes charge: Repairing the Toddbrook reservoir spillway

Client need

Toddbrook Reservoir’s auxiliary spillway was damaged by intense rainfall in August 2019. There was disruption to the concrete slabs on the downstream slope of the dam, exposing the earth below to considerable flow and erosion damage. The incident was widely reported in the media due to the potential disaster of the Whaley Bridge and spillway damage flooding the town below.

Kier Infrastructure were appointed by the Canal & River Trust for emergency response containment and enabling works contracts, leading to the main works contract to reinstate and repair the spillway and dam.

Kier Infrastructure secured a CappKind Senior Quantity Surveyor to carry out contract and commercial management on the Canal & River Trust Toddbrook Dam reinstatement works.
