Construction Project Management

Our construction project managers typically manage design and construction teams through the full project lifecycle, from initial brief to completion and handover. Throughout this process, we consider both the strategic context and tactical environment to identify options and promote effective decision making, always focused on achieving the required project outcomes.

What’s more, all of this is managed within our own construction project management application – ProjectDeck.

Key aspects of our construction project management service

  • supporting development of the client brief
  • coordinating feasibility studies and investment appraisals
  • establishing project roles
  • managing project meetings
  • authoring and updating the Project Execution Plan
  • monitoring performance
  • managing project risk
  • managing project change
  • establishing and maintaining the handover plan.

Employer's agent

We act on behalf of our clients to manage design and build contracts, drawing together commercial management, contract administration and construction project management into a packaged service.

A core part of this role is undertaking the role of contract administrator, typically using JCT contracts, but we also have experience of equivalent roles under other forms of contract (including bespoke agreements).

As Employer’s Agent we also deliver a range of construction project management services outside of the contract. Examples include:

  • comprehensive pre contract support, including tender processes and contract documentation,
  • a range of cost management services such as cost planning and payment assurance, and
  • a wider project management role, such as project team leadership, project reporting, change management and co-ordination with related projects / contracts.

NEC project manager

The NEC is more than just a contract; it provides a framework for effective project delivery. Our fully accredited NEC3 and NEC4 Project Managers are experienced in leveraging the benefits NEC offers to all interested parties. By striking a delicate balance between procedural compliance and real world workflows, we ensure both contractual compliance and efficient project delivery.

Excellent communication is critical to forging positive contractual relationships and is therefore a cornerstone of our NEC project management service. All projects present their own contractual challenges and our experienced NEC Project Managers address such issues head on in a fair, transparent and impartial manner. We find this is the most effective way to resolve issues, avoid disputes and achieve positive outcomes for all parties.

In addition to administering all aspects of the NEC contract, our NEC Project Managers provide invaluable support outside of the contract, including advising on

  • contract strategy and bespoke amendments
  • commercial model development
  • NEC procurement processes
  • NEC familiarisation and training
  • post- contract NEC project management reviews

Site inspections

Construction projects are complex and involve the co-ordination of many different entities, people and resources. Regular inspection is crucial to check that the works are progressing as intended, ensuring that required quality standards are achieved and wider contractual obligations are met.

We provide an independent site inspection service for clients and other third parties to construction projects, providing assurance of quality and compliance.

Our multi-disciplinary site inspection specialists have extensive knowledge and experience of construction processes. They are our clients eyes and ears on site.

Either based on site or making regular site visits, our site inspectors monitor and report on all aspects of the construction process.

NEC supervisor

Our fully accredited NEC3 and NEC4 Supervisors fulfil the prescribed contractual responsibilities, often alongside our broader site inspection service. This includes quality assurance of workmanship, validating testing and commissioning and ensuring construction methodologies are in accordance with contractual requirements and constraints.

Our NEC Supervisors also provide valuable support to the NEC Project Manager, for example in assessing progress for interim payments, identifying and rectifying defects and validating contractual completion requirements. Delivering the very best value from your construction project management.
