Commercial & Contracts Manager, Aviation

Remote working, with regular travel to Dublin


CappKind is an established professional services provider to the construction industry, regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). We support our clients (both end clients and contractors) with some of the largest capital programmes in the UK and abroad.

We are currently expanding and looking for talented, forward thinking commercial professionals to work with us. We are looking for Commercial and Contracts Managers to support our team and provide procurement and contract management services for our clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the commercial and contractual delivery of large-scale projects, initially within the aviation sector.

The role

  • Contract, expected 6 months+, 40 hours per week.
  • Based remotely or at our Leeds head office, with regular travel to Dublin (up to 2 days per week, reimbursed by CappKind).
  • Providing commercial and contract services for major aviation projects.
  • Resources must have strong NEC contract knowledge and demonstrable experience in pre-contract delivery on infrastructure projects in excess of £10m in value.
The resource(s) providing the services will
  • Have a degree in a construction or quantity surveying related discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience.
  • Preferably be a member of a relevant Professional Institution or working towards membership.
  • Preferably have experience working on aviation projects, or alternatively other infrastructure projects, such as utilities, highways, rail and/or other civils projects.
  • Have an in depth understanding and experience of contractual and commercial processes.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Be confident reviewing and drafting procurement and contract documentation, including collating coherent Scope information from multiple technical disciplines.
  • Ideally have demonstrable experience of managing pre-contract processes and deliverables.
  • Have strong leadership skills and be confident in guiding and motivating teams.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Be client focused and able to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Be a self-motivated team player that demonstrates excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Up to £500 per day (depending on experience/qualifications of the resources providing the services).
